Stop Motion

Posted: March 12, 2011 in Film Art

Stop motion (also known as stop action) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of repositioning. (Source:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_motion )

I was fascinated by it when i saw Tim Burton’s  Corpse Bride, the movement of each characters was so smooth that it looks like it was a computer generated graphic . Theres alot of small stop motion project on youtube,  One of my favorite was by Patrick Boivin.  This is his most recent work, do check out his youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/PatrickBoivin

I manage to make one short clip in 2010  and posted it on youtube, do take a look.
